Futon Mattress Surprise
Hogging todayÆs headlines in the mattress manufacturing
industry are such novelty features-laden models of Sleep Number
Bed and the Tempur-pedic. However, not all people are very
familiar with them, except for some second-hand stories and
anecdotes on their versatility.
These new mattress models live up to their hype and are
bestsellers. The demand for them was mostly because people
wanted to try out their new innovative features. Unfortunately,
they are rather expensive.
Tucked somewhere between the past and present best-sellers
is a cute little number known by everyone ever since it came
out in the market two decades ago û the futon mattress.
Surprisingly, it still is in demand.
When it was first introduced, the futon mattress was the
rage among young couples. One big selling point was that it was
easy to setup and easy to put away. That feature still holds
true today and is the primary reason for its market demand.
Having a futon mattress in the home or office serves two
ways. You can use it as a comfortable couch, and later, turn it
into a comfortable bed. They are handy for unexpected guests
who need to spend the night in your
place.
However, since it has a dual role û a bed by day and a couch
by day û there is a need to dress it up for each role.
Manufacturers are quick to answer that need: they have now
developed the futon mattress cover.
The futon mattress cover protects your mattress by making it
still look great even when you turn it back into a couch. Dog
and cat fur, dust and grime, body oils, sweat stains, and
others stay on the cover and not on the futon mattress.
The all-too familiar reason is that the futon mattress cover
is washable. A round at the washer and it comes out just like
new and usable again. Spread it on the futon, and nobody is the
wiser.
Another big news is that todayÆs futon mattresses now come
in high-end Talalay process latex or memory foam. These are the
contemporary mattress materials now used because of their known
health benefits. Latex is anti-mold, anti-mildew, and
hypoallergenic. One other good feature is that these new
materials last longer than the old cotton.
Where before the old futon transformed into knotted, lumpy
bag of cotton, now there is already a futon mattress that can
give consumers the comfort they have wanted all these
years.
As one industry insider predicts, the futon mattress will
still be as popular in the future as it has been for the last
two decades. It has bucked the trend, and is riding on a new
one right into the future.
