How to sell an old mattress

Thinking of buying a new mattress but have no clue with what to do with your old one? Sure that old one is still good but you just upgraded your bed space from king to super king and using the old mattress just wonÆt cut it. It is a real dilemma if you ask me. So what can you do? Sell it then!

There are a lot of people that are in the market for a used mattress for whatever reason that they have. Now why don't you take advantage of that need and sell you old mattress. Here are some quick tips to help you sell that old mattress.

1. Price it right. Don't be greedy. It does not really matter if you paid thousands to buy it initially, the deal here is that it's used. DonÆt think that you could get back what you paid it for because the most you can get is about 35- 60 percent of the original price, so don't keep your hopes up. If it's still firm and stain free or it's from a designer brand then you could probably hike it up a little that just 60 percent of the original value. But it looks really moldy and old a good hundred is a good haul. Any cash is good cash for trash.

2. Take advantage of technology. The internet is a powerful medium of information dissemination that you can take advantage of, what it means is that putting it on the internet is like telling the whole world you have something to sell. Try selling it on different sites that allow auctions or buying and selling. Upload a picture that you are most proud of and put it in your blog og your myspace page, talk about it in forums or just plain tell people that you are selling something and it might be that thing that they need. If it's still in its pristine condition make sure that you let people know it's still that way so you can make it more inviting.

3. Advertise and get attention. The best way to get your mattress sold is by getting attention and getting noticed by people. One way of doing that is by posting signs and advertisements in common areas or public areas like community billboards, your apartment, coffee shops or your car. If it covers more ground then that's better. Remember to put the price and the number to call so they don't get lost.
