Know what the best mattress type is for you

People have been using mattresses since the days of the Persians. They used to have bags of wool that spread over the ground to provide them cushioning support when they are sleeping. That practice influenced other nations to adopt it when on a expedition that requires them to be a way for months at a time. Since then the mattress has never stopped evolving and up until now, there are still improvements applied to the household mattress.

One of the most long-standing forms of the mattress is the coil mattress. It has called the coil mattress because of the way it uses coils to support the person lying on it. it also acts as the platform for the weight distribution for the mattress. However, aside from the coils the insides are also filled with different materials of different combinations. Some of the most popular fillings for coil mattresses are cotton, wool, foam, polyester and other synthetics.

For the longest time, we have been using the coil mattress for our beds but as sure as sure can get we have little idea how it actually works. For that here is a quick crash course on how a coil mattress works

Open coil springs are more often than not about 5-6 coils tall. A typical double bed has 325 of these coils, though some makers may use more or less depending on their technology and, of course, number of coils become more as the bed size goes up. The coils are all put together into a single structure with helical wire. The helical wire is what joins the larger coils together to form even rows. Another rod is fitted around the rows of coils to make a frame for the mattress. Once everything is in place, the mattress is filled and the ticking is put in to place.

Just like other spring mattresses, the tension, or hardness of the mattress can be changed or tweaked by changing the thickness of the coils and the number of twists in the coil and of with the number of coils used in the construction. Depending on the maker, the number of coils and the position of the tightened coils are determined. Some companies put extra strong coils in key areas of the mattress to provide additional support for the user. Other companies also double coil the mattress construction so that the life of the mattress can be extended to its usual life span.
